Dragonball is huge. The creator, Akira Toriyama, must be swimming in royalty cash. And deservedly so. (Note: Toriyama sensei likes to draw himself as a robot)

Neil Gaiman is a genius writer. A very FUNNY genius writer. In a small cafe in Europe somewhere, Mr. Gaiman and genius artist Dave McKean were struggling to come up with a personification of Death. During the midst of their pondering, a young, cute waitress with goth make up and attire brought their coffee and lunch. Mr. Gaiman stared at this enigmatic beauty as she served them and continued to stare after she left. Then he turned to Mr. McKean and said, "Our waitress...she is Death."

Kohji Kumeta created a brilliant series called "Katteni Kaizo" ( which is a pun that can either be translated as "build whatever" or "silly Kaizo") brimming with great art, hilarious social commentary and especially unforgettable characters like Kaizo, Chitan, and Umi, respectively. I do absolutely no justice to Kumeta-sensei's work here.

I'm curious to how the Los Angeles Lakers will fare this season with Phil "Zen Master" Jackson as head coach again. Will his zen voodoo work with this new young Laker squad? So far, it's .500, neither bad or good, just in the middle, like nirvana... Actually, at this point of the season, it's not that good. But you never know. Still 52 games left. For all we know, they could go on a 52 game winning streak. And when they do that, hail to the Buddha gods! High five!

Woo! 2006 is here! These pay tribute to a Japanese End of the Year show in which there were dancing Pokemon-like creatures and kids wearing large white afros. Woo! 2006!
